Entertainment from other places
We talk a lot about books on this site, but there are other ways to get your story time fix. I love to watch YouTube because, much like books, you can support specifically what you enjoy. I love that on Youtube, there is something I enjoy always available.
One thing I really love is paranormal stories. I don’t necessarily want to read these types of stories, especially right before I go to bed (that’s when I get my best reading time in). I love to listen to and watch these types of stories and they provide me with a great stress reliever and means of escape to take my mind of other things.
Telling of the tale
One of the aspects I really enjoy about the mysterious or paranormal genre that I listen to is the manner in which many of the tales are told. Usually, these stories are first hand accounts that are narrated and retold in short story format. The talent of the narrator really draws you in and sets the mood and provides a fantastic backdrop for the event.
Yes, there are television shows that cover the same types of topics, but many tend to be more campy in feeling. Many of the YouTube stories are just a great listen and the narrators are able to bring the story to life without the need of actors and special effects.
Some of our favorites
I wanted to share with you some of my favorites. If you have other favorites, I would love to hear what they are, so please comment below.
- Beyond Creepy – Mr. Black tells stories dealing with everything from men in black to things that go bump in the night. His monotone delivery really draws you in.
- Bedtime Stories – Strange and interesting stories accompanied by beautiful illustrations that make for great listening or watching.
- Bob Gymlam – Similar in format to Bedtime Stories and another one of my favorites for listening and watching.
- Strange But True Stories – Tales from the light side, the dark side… and the other side. Hosted by Steve White. A fantastic channel that presents strange stories covering everything from Big Foot to the Mandela Effect. Another favorite.
-
The Paranormal Scholar – The Paranormal Scholar explores paranormal mysteries and dark histories in the form of documentaries and top lists. Our research includes: ghosts, spirits and poltergeists; paranormal legends, folklore and history; exorcisms and demonically possessed people; anomalous experiences; true stories; monsters and cryptids; and, UFOs and aliens.
Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy these as much as I do. Again, please share if you have others you love.
